In our modern-day business environment, consumers expect fast-paced service and workers expect easy-to-use technology that allows them to excel in their work. Technology is always evolving, so businesses oftentimes must choose between upgrading current systems or investing in completely new systems.
While it is a great enabler, technology must align with your complete vision before you make a purchase. When our clients go through this process, here are 4 items we’ve learned while helping them along the way…
1. Blueprint. A fundamental piece to fitting technology with your vision is to create a blueprint of the technology design. Having a well-planned blueprint must not be underestimated. If done incorrectly, it can also result in a $500,000 mistake for your business.
2. RFP. You need a strong RFP. It’s important to ensure the terms of the RFP specify what features and benefits you need along with the support you would like during the process. To do this, you need SME’s who can help identify what technology requirements you are looking for.
3. Know what questions to ask. This piece is important in order to have a thorough understanding of your requirements. To ask the right questions, you need expert insight into the minutia of details and potential outcomes surrounding your lines of business. Make sure you ask the right questions before you buy. If it’s too late, it can be costly to go back.
4. Mapping. In order to understand how the new technology will embed itself in your processes, you need to map out the relevant processes it will touch. One example is an IVA/IVR deployment. IVA flows can determine the entire success of the new technology as you will want to prevent deployment delays – which can be costly.
